Tick… Tock…

22nd May…

5 minutes until freedom. I am hurrying up my last answer to have a few minutes to read over my exam paper…

Let’s read it over a second time, just in case I made a silly mistake…

Clock ticking away…

Stress increasing…

The second hand is on 57, 58, 59, 00…

“PUT YOUR PENS DOWN!” …

It is now 3pm. After what seemed like the longest month of revision, I am done. While the papers are being collected, I can’t help but look around the room to catch a glimpse of those familiar faces.  Sure, enough you notice your classmates who have done well first. They usually are the ones with their heads held high, a smug smile on their face and ready to wave back as you make eye contact.

5 minutes Later the papers are still being collected…

Now you start noticing the others. Beforehand, their heads were buried deep in their arms as they try to reassure themselves. Having done so, they slowly look up, remembering that their chances to pass were much higher than failing. I’m not going to lie on many an occasion that was me, especially last year. After many hardworking days and re-motivation this exam period allowed me to keep my head held high.

10 minutes have passed by…

Now all the thoughts leave your mind, you become impatient to dance, scream, basically do anything but be sitting here in this exam venue…

” You may now leave!” …

HOORAY! the class yells simultaneously. The stress is lifted. The summer can begin. Exams are over. Not having even left the venue yet, friends start organising parties, BBQs in the park.

If like me you have finished your exams, go out and enjoy your summer vacation, be with friends and family. For those of you still sitting them… Good luck! Not that you will need it as you will most likely ace them. Just remember it might not seem fun now but when you are enjoying that ice cream in the park, you’d think it was all worth it. With my Joe’s Sundae in hand, I bid you all adieu for now.
