Services and Facilities

Students’ Unions provide a whole range of different services and facilities. From shops, if you need a notebook or having computer problems, to a variety of places to eat, if you want to grab a quick lunch or catch up with friends.

The student pub is often the cheapest place to get a pint in the city and most SU’s have their own nightclub with cheap drink offers. There are also places in the building to go and study or just chill out in a non-alcoholic environment.

There may also be a bank, bookshop, hairdressers, letting agency and print shop to cater for students’ every need. These will specialise in students’ requirements and so will often be much more helpful than other, similar businesses.

Students’ Unions also offer services such as a Jobshop to help you find casual or part-time employment, and an Advice and Representation Centre to provide you with confidential information on academic, welfare and general issues.

Many Students’ Unions will also be music venues, at Cardiff University’s Students’ Union, there are three venues of differing sizes and capacities. In the past year alone, it has played host to the likes of Bastille, Chvrches, the Kerrang Tour, Rizzle Kicks and Hospitality.
